PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown field hockey team was defeated by No. 14 Princeton, 11-1, on Saturday afternoon at Goldberger Family Field. Senior Katherine Kallergis (Lake Forest, Ill.) netted the Bears' score in the contest, her first tally of the season.

Princeton opened the game with a score at 1:47 from Roth Clara, who put in a rebound following a penalty corner. Brown was quick to answer at 3:17 with Kallergis scoring her first of the year when freshman Lexi King (Granby, Conn.) led her with a pass in front.

The Tigers would reclaim the lead when Clara added her second at 4:48. Princeton would close out the half with four more scores to take a 6-1 advantage into the break.

Princeton started its second half scoring at 49:32 and would add four more tallies en route to its win.

Junior Katie Hammaker (Ephrata, Pa.) concluded the contest with 13 saves, one short of tying her career-high.

Brown will play again tomorrow (Oct. 15), welcoming Holy Cross to Goldberger Family Field for a non-conference game. The contest is the team's Vs. Cancer game and will begin at 1:00 p.m. Fans can make a donation to the team's fundraising efforts by clicking here.
