PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown field hockey team was defeated by Holy Cross, 4-1, in a non-conference game at Goldberger Family Field on Sunday afternoon. Junior Maddie Ayles (Westwood, Mass.) and sophomore Gina Openshaw (Annapolis, Md.) combined on the assist.
Holy Cross (6-8) closed the door on a comeback at 62:59 when Loprete added her second of the day on a diving shot.
The Bears (1-12) again outshot the Crusaders in the second, 4-3, while each team had just one corner in the half.
Junior Katie Hammaker (Ephrata, Pa.) finished the game with three saves, all in the first half, while Marcia LaPlante made seven stops for the visitors.

Cancer, fifty percent of the money raised will fund national brain tumor research efforts through the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, while the other half goes directly to the pediatric oncology unit at Hasbro Children's Hospital.
