
Women's Track & Field's Schudrowitz Sets Record at John Thomas Invite

BOSTON – Junior Natalie Schudrowitz (Milwaukee, Wis.) set a school record in the mile to lead the Brown women's track & field team at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Invitational Friday at the Track & Tennis Center.
Schudrowitz finished fourth out of 140 runners in the mile with a time of 4:42.54, breaking the previous record by three seconds, set by Wendy Smith '87 in 1987. Senior Taylor Worthy (Medfield, Mass.) placed tenth in the event in a time of 4:48.83 for third all-time in program history.
Freshman May Stern (Providence, R.I.) placed sixth in the 400 meters at 55.89 for fifth all-time in program history, while fellow rookie Zion Lewis (Canton, Ga.) was 13th out of 158 in the 200 meters as she crossed at 24.96 for tenth all-time at Brown.
Alexis Van Pernis (Kailua Kona, Hawaii) was eighth in the 1,000 meters as she crossed in a time of 2:52.92, ninth best all-time in the history of the program.
In the field, senior Shandell Scott (Norfolk, Va.) was runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 18-07.00 for seventh all-time at Brown, while Bridget van Dorsten (Westport, Conn.) was fourth in a triple jump at 38-02.25.
Freshman Amanda Block (Beverly Hills, Calif.) was fifth overall in pole vault with a cleared height of 11-11.75, fourth all-time at Brown.
In addition, Maxine Offiaeli (South Windsor, Conn.) was runner-up in the weight throw with a toss of 58-03.75. Kendra Offiaeli (South Windsor, Conn.) was fourth in the shot put at 45-09.25.
The Brown men's track & field team will compete at the BU Terrier Classic on Saturday.
