
Men's Crew Falls to Yale in Battle for Albert Cup

DERBY, Conn. – Brown men's crew picked up a victory in the third varsity race, but fell to Yale in the varsity eight in the battle for the Albert Cup, as the Bears opened the 2016 spring season Friday on the Housatonic River.
The two programs faced scattered rain conditions and a decreasing head wind on the 2,000-meter course.
In the third varsity race, the Bears cruised to victory in a time of 6:00.5, finishing three seconds ahead of the Bulldogs at 6:03.9.
Yale topped Brown in the varsity eight for the second-ever Albert Cup, winning in a time of 5:44. The Bears crossed in a time of 5:53.
Yale's second varsity boat finished first at 5:54 to beat Brown (6:01), while the Bulldogs also earned a victory in the fourth varsity in a time of 6:12.
Brown returns to the water tomorrow when the Bears host Boston University on the Seekonk River. The 5V4 race will kick off the action at 9:20 a.m.
