Bears Place 11th Nationally At Kurtz Cup

Brown's women's squash team closed out its season with an 11^th place national finish at the Howe Cup played in New Haven, Conn. The Bears opened the weekend with a 7-2 win over Franklin & Marshall, followed by a narrow 5-4 loss to Drexel. Brown completed play with a 7-2 win over Williams in the match for the higher the national ranking.

The team showed up ready to play ahainst F&M, and the standout performance was arguably Quincy Beck '18 who won at #1 playing wonderful squash. The Bears matched-up with Drexel in the semis and fell just short. The top five of the Drexel team were too strong for the team and the wins all came from 6-9 for the Bears with wins from Katrina Northrop '19, Hannah Hay-Smith '17, Purvi Goel '19 and Hannah Safford '19.

This set up the 3rd-4th place match on Sunday against Williams and the seven wins came from Quincy Beck '18, at #1, who fought back from a two game deficit to triumph in five games, from #4 Emily Richmond '16, Isabel Pitaro '16 at #5, Katrina Northrop '19 at #6, Hannah-Hay Smith '17 at #7, Purvi Goel '19 at #8 fought back from 2-1 down to win in five, and Hannah Safford '19 at #9.
