PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Ali Gunesch (Sandy, Ore.) of the Brown skiing team was named the ECSC MacConnell Division Skier of the Year for her first-place finish in the overall USCSA ECSC MacConnell Division individual standings. Junior Natalie Pearl (Steamboat Springs, Colo.), junior Sylvie Bertrand (Hanover, N.H.) and senior Katie Liebowitz (Bedford, N.Y.) also made the USCSA ECSC All-MacConnell Division Team for their finishes.
Reaching the podium in nine of 10 races this season, Gunesch concluded the season with three victories and three runner-up performances. Gunesch earned 660 points throughout the year to capture the women's ECSC MacConnell Division title in a close race between teammate and two-time defending ECSC MacConnell Division Skier of the Year, Pearl.
Pearl placed second in individual divisional standings (641 points), winning four races and claiming second twice. Bertrand rounded out the top-three with 536 points while posting five podium finishes that included three victories.
With Gunesch, Pearl and Bertrand ranking in the top-3, it marks the second consecutive year that the Bears swept the top-three spots in the regular season individual standings, and the first year that all 10 regular season races have been won by Brown skiers.
Liebowitz also made the Women's USCSA ECSC All-MacConnell Division Team after placing 11th overall in the division.
Head coach Michael LeBlanc was chosen as the USCSA ECSC MacConnell Division Coach of the Year, voted on by his peers.
Brown will next compete in the USCSA Easter Regional Championship on Saturday, Feb. 27 through Sunday, February 28 at Mount Abram in Greenwood, Maine.
