
Baseball Names Team Captains for 2017 Season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Head coach Grant Achilles of the Brown University baseball program has announced that seniors Rob Henry (Cranston, R.I.), Josh Huntley (Aurora, Colo.) and Christian Taugner (Roselle, Ill.) will serve as team captains for the upcoming 2017 season.
"Leadership is paramount to any successful team, and we are ecstatic to have Rob, Josh, and Christian as our captains for the 2016-17 season," said Achilles.
Henry has served as the team's primary centerfielder the past three seasons and started all 39 games last season, leading the team with 40 hits to go along with 20 runs scored. He put together a breakout season as a sophomore when he led the Ivy League in hits (58) and ranked second with a .363 batting average and 17 doubles, en route to All-Ivy honors.
Huntley is coming off a standout junior campaign when he was named First Team All-Ivy and started 38 of 39 games played as the team's primary catcher. The Colorado native led the Bears with a .313 batting average, including .361 in Ivy League play, and recorded a team-high 13 doubles. Huntley added 15 runs scored and 16 RBIs with a .429 slugging percentage.
Taugner earned Second Team All-Ivy honors as a junior last season, leading the Bears with a 2.79 ERA as the team's ace. He recorded a 5-3 record and allowed just seven walks in a team-high 58.0 innings pitched. Taugner enjoyed an impressive rookie season in 2014, leading the team with a 2.39 ERA and 49 strikeouts in eight starts as a member of the weekend rotation.
Brown will open the 2017 season on Friday, March 3 with a three-game series at Nicholls State.
