
Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Open 2016-17 Season on Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's and women's swimming & diving teams will open the 2016-17 season this Saturday (Nov 5.) against Yale and UMass at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center, starting at 12:00 p.m.
The women's team, led by tri-captains senior Katie Roach (Colorado Springs, Colo.), senior Elly Vitek (Western Springs, Ill.) and junior Jenna Zagoren (Cherry Hills, N.J.), had a strong finish to the 2015-16 season. The Bears set eight program records and junior Ally Donahue (Tampa, Fla.) captured the 100 and 200 backstroke titles at the Ivy Championship, leading the squad to a fifth-place finish in the Championship, their highest finish in a decade.
On the men's side, the Bears broke five program records in the Ivy League Championship. Junior Riley Springman (Orlando, Fla.) highlighted the Championship finishes with a fourth-place showing in the 200 butterfly. Senior diver Jonathon Schlafer (Uniontown, Ohio) competed in the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships, scoring 251.50 in the 3-meter and 266.60 in the 1-meter.
Following the opening weekend, the two teams remain at Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center to host Bryant and MIT on Saturday, Nov. 12, starting at noon. Over the course of the season, the Bears will also host the Bruno Invitational (Dec. 2 - Dec. 4) and Cornell (Jan. 28). The Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center will be the site of the 2016-17 Women's Swimming & Diving Ivy League Championships (Feb. 15-Feb. 18).
