LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – The Brown skiing team captured both giant slalom races at the Clarkson Carnival at Whiteface Mountain on Saturday, Jan. 30 and Sunday, Jan. 31. The Bears' MacConnell Division win streak now moves up to 46-straight.
On Saturday, junior Natalie Pearl (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) turned in a first place finish with a time of 2:06.42. Junior Ali Gunesch (Sandy, Ore.) grabbed second place (2:09.09) while fellow junior Sylvie Bertrand (Hanover, N.H.) finished fifth with a mark of 2:11.07.
On Sunday, the Bears captured a MacConnell Division victory and finished third overall. Pearl posted her second first-place finish of the weekend in the division, crossing the line in 2:00.47. Gunesch placed fourth with a time of 2:02.75 while sophomore Lauren Stobierski (South Deerfield, Mass.) took fifth (2:03.74).
The Bears will next compete in the Saint Anselm Carnival in Bennington, N.H. at Crotched Mountain on Saturday, Feb. 6 (giant slalom) and Sunday, Feb. 7 (slalom).
