QUEENSBURY, N.Y. – The Brown skiing team bumped its MacConnell Division win streak up to 44-straight with victories in the giants slalom and slalom on Saturday, Jan. 23 and Sunday, Jan. 24 at the Castleton Carnival at West Mountain.
Junior Ali Gunesch (Sandy, Ore.) posted a first-place finish in the giant slalom with a time of 1:46.67. Senior Katie Liebowitz (Bedford, N.Y.) was the next Bear finisher, in fifth place (1:47.76). Sophomore Lauren Stobierski (South Deerfield, Mass.) and junior Sylvie Bertrand (Hanover, N.H.) rounded out the top-10 overall, finishing ninth (1:48.67) and 10th (1:48.69), respectively.
In the slalom on Sunday, Gunesch turned in her second-straight top finish in as many races, with a time of 1:49.21 with junior Natalie Pearl (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) right behind her in second with a finish of 1:49.26 for second place. Bertrand grabbed third place and Stokierski was Brown's fourth finisher, earning sixth place.
The Bears will next compete in the Clarkson Carnival at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, N.Y. on Saturday, Jan. 30 and Sunday, Jan. 31.
