Skiing Claims Top Spot in Both the Babson and Brown Carnivals

ANDOVER, N.H.– The Brown skiing team opened the 2016 campaign with back-to-back victories on Friday, Jan. 15 in the Babson Carnival at Mount Sunapee in Newbury, N.H. and Saturday, Jan. 16 in the Brown Carnival at Proctor Ski Area/Blackwater in Andover, N.H. The Bears pushed their MacConnell Division winning streak to 42.
In day one of competition, Brown had three top-five finishers, with junior Natalie Pearl (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) coming away with a first-place finish with a time of 1:45.20. Junior Ali Gunesch (Sandy, Ore.) was right behind Pearl with a mark of 1:45.32. Senior Katie Liebowitz (Bedford, N.Y.) pulled in a fifth-place finish with a time of 1:47.77.
At the Brown Carnival, the Bears finished 1-2-3 with junior Sylvie Bertrand (Hanover, N.H.) claiming the top spot finishing in 1:45.92. Pearl finished second with a time of 1:46.64 and Gunesch rounded out the top-3 with a mark of 1:47.98.
The Bears are back in action this weekend, Saturday, Jan. 23 and Sunday, Jan. 24 at the Castleton Carnival at West Mountain in Queensbury, N.Y.
