
Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Participate in Swim Across America

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – On Saturday, Sept. 12 the Brown men's and women's swimming & diving teams combined to form Team Brown University and raise the third-highest total donation ($16,046) for Swim Across America – Rhode Island at Roger Wheeler State Beach. Swim Across America - RI supports cancer treatment and research efforts at Women & Infants Hospital in Providence.
The event brought together collegiate teams from around the area, which included Providence College, Bryant University, University of Rhode Island, Assumption, Boston University, Wesleyan University, University of Connecticut, Northeastern University, Roger Williams University, as well as many other local swimmers all raising money to support the cause.
In the race, senior Cory Mayfield (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.) crossed the finish line first in the men's college one-mile swim while sophomores Korbyn Simpson (Baltimore, Md.) and Olivia Katcher (Hollywood, Fla.) tied in the women's one-mile swim. Junior Emma Wyke (Columbus, Ind.) won the women's half-mile.
