Bikofsky Signs Pro Contract In Israel

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Former Brown women's basketball standout Sophie Bikofsky '15 has signed a professional contract with Maccabi Ramat Hen of the Israeli Female Basketball Premier League.
"I am extremely excited about the opportunity to play professional basketball in such a competitive league," said Bikofsky. "I feel very fortunate that basketball has led me to such incredible life experiences, where I am able to explore and learn about a new culture, as well as play the game I love. I feel as though Brown Athletics truly prepared me for this next step and I am beyond thankful for all the encouragement and support I have received."
Bikofsky's new squad is located in the city of Ramat Gan, located just east of Tel Aviv. Maccabi Ramat Hen features collegiate players from Duke, UCLA, Northwestern, and Toledo, while the league also serves as a winter stop for select WNBA players.
Earning her second straight Honorable Mention selection, the Newton, Massachusetts native boasted a remarkable final campaign on College Hill in 2014-15. The senior set the all-time program record with 222 career three-point field goals and also claims the team's best performances at the free throw line for a season (.921) and a career (.862). The 92.1-percent success rate from the charity stripe ranked third nationally. She also became the school's 18th player to hit the 1,000-point milestone, finishing 17th on the all-time scoring list with 1,018 points.
Bikofsky's agent, Allison Galer (Brown '11), played one season on the Brown women's basketball team in 2007-08.
