
Women's Water Polo Beats Notre Dame College, Falls to Indiana

PRINCETON, N.J. – Brown University women's water polo beat Notre Dame College, 15-8, and fell to No. 16 Indiana University, 16-4, in a pair of CWPA games at Princeton University's DeNunzio Pool on Saturday.
The Bears (17-13, 3-2, CWPA) topped the Falcons (1-10, 0-4 CWPA) in their second Collegiate Water Polo Association game of the day after dropping a decision to the nationally-ranked Hoosiers (15-11, 3-1 CWPA).
Sophomore Shannon Crowley (Seal Beach, Calif.) scored four goals to lead the Bears in their win over Notre Dame.
Next, Brown plays No. 15 Michigan tomorrow at Princeton at 9 a.m.
Game 1 – Indiana 16, Brown 4
Senior Emily Klein (Pleasanton, Calif.), junior Emma Dodd (Pasadena, Calif.), and sophomores Marisa Kolokotronis (Sacramento, Calif.) and Crowley each scored one goal as Brown fell to No. 16 Indiana, 16-4, in its first game of the day.
The Hoosiers scored the game's first four goals before Kolokotronis put the Bears on the board midway through the first quarter.
Indiana carried a 5-1 lead into the second quarter and went ahead 7-1 prior to a goal from Crowley with 4:06 to play in the half. The Hoosiers pushed their lead to 10-2 at halftime. The Hoosiers registered all four of the third stanza's goals to bring a 14-2 edge into the final stanza.
Dodd netted a goal just over 30 seconds into the fourth quarter, and Klein scored with 1:32 remaining for the Bears' final goal.

Game 2 – Brown 15, Notre Dame 8
Crowley netted four goals, and freshman Jessica Heilman (Menlo Park, Calif.) posted three goals as Brown beat Notre Dame College, 15-8, in the nightcap.
Juniors Olivia Santiago (Los Altos, Calif.) and Mai Ly (Los Angeles, Calif.) each scored two goals while Klein, seniors Chloe Kempf (Laguna Hills, Calif.) and Rebecca Zak (Carlsbad, Calif.), and sophomore Hannah Koper (Santa Barbara, Calif.) each added a single tally.
Crowley added four steals and won all four sprints while Heilman tallied a team-best seven steals and three ejections drawn. Dodd contributed four assists, and Santiago tacked on three steals, two assists, and two ejections drawn.
Brown took a 4-1 lead after the first quarter with four different Bears notching goals including Klein, Crowley, Santiago, and Kempf.
The Bears extended their edge to 8-3 at the half as Heilman charted a hat trick in the period, and Ly tacked on a marker.
Crowley scored three goals of her own in the third quarter, and Koper posted her goal to give Brown a 12-5 advantage after three quarters. Santiago, Zak, and Ly netted the Bears' fourth-quarter goals.
