QUEENSBURY, N.Y. – The Brown skiing team captured its fourth consecutive MacConnell Division title and extended their division winning streak to 40 at the Castleton State Invitational this weekend at West Mountain.
In the giant slalom event on Saturday, junior Katie Liebowitz (Bedford, N.Y.) tallied her first win of the season, while teammates Natalie Pearl (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) and Ali Gunesch (Sandy, Ore.) joined her on the podium with second and third place finishes respectively.
On Sunday in the slalom event, Castleton State's Kara Van Herwarde placed first overall, but a strong team showing from the Bears secured their 40th consecutive division win. Brown's five skiers, Pearl, Amanda Engelhardt (Plymouth, N.H.), Lauren Stobierski, Sylvie Bertrand (Hanover, N.H.), and Gunesch, all finished in the top-10 on Sunday.
With another undefeated season in the books, the Bears qualify for the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships to be held back at West Mountain on Feb. 21-22.
