Men's Soccer's Hagstrom, Akeel Earn NSCAA All-Region Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman Jack Hagstrom (Middleton, Wis.) and senior Tariq Akeel (Rochester Hills, Mich.) of the Brown men's soccer team earned National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-East Region honors, announced Wednesday. Hagstrom was named to the Second Team, one of only three freshmen on the All-Region team, while Akeel garnered Third Team accolades.
Hagstrom put together a standout campaign and was named the Ivy League Co-Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Ivy for his efforts. The rookie defender paced the team in goals (5) and points (11), including one game winner. The three-time Rookie of the Week selection had five points in seven Ivy League contests.
Akeel, who was also named First Team All-Ivy, was second on the team with 10 points. He totaled four goals and two assists, highlighted by a pair of game-winning tallies in league contests. Akeel completed his Brown tenure with 12 goals and six assists for 30 career points.
Brown finished the 2015 campaign at 10-5-2 overall and 4-1-2 in the Ivy League, including a five-game unbeaten streak to wrap up the season.
