
Women's Basketball's Steeves Wins Ivy Rookie of the Week Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. – Brown University women's basketball freshman Erika Steeves has garnered Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors after helping Brown notch three wins in three games last week, the Ivy League conference office announced on Monday.
A native of Montreal, Quebec, Steeves recorded 15.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, notched two double-doubles, and shot 18-of-28 from the field (64.3 percent) and 5-of-7 from 3-point distance (71.4 percent) in the Bears' 3-0 week.
In the team's home-opening win against Providence on Tuesday, she posted 14 points and 12 rebounds (five offensive) for her first collegiate double-double. In the Bears' 72-45 win over Morgan St. on Saturday, she totaled another double-double on a season-high 19 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 7-of-11 from the field and 4-of-5 from behind the arc. In 17 minutes vs. Mount Ida on Thursday, she posted 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting to go with five boards.
For the season, she has led Brown in scoring (13.8 ppg) and rebounding (9.3 rpg) and has shot 59.5 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from 3-point range.
Steeves and the Bears host the University of Vermont tonight, Monday Nov. 23, at 7 p.m. prior to playing at Manhattan College on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m.
