LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Sophomore Natalie Schudrowitz (Milwaukee, Wis.) of the Brown women's cross country team placed 23rd overall to earn All-American honors at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship Saturday at Tom Sawyer Park.
Schudrowitz placed 23rd in the 254-runner field as she completed the 6-kilometer course in a time of 20:16.7. She was in 26th-place at the 2,000-meter mark, but moved up three spots down the stretch earn the top-25 finish. Schudrowitz is the first Brown cross country All-American since Sara Tindall in 2000.
"It's very difficult to come to the NCAA in your first time out and perform at the level she did today," said Tim Springfield, Director of Track & Field/Cross Country. "She ran an absolutely perfect race and competed very well."
Schudrowitz placed fourth overall at last week's Northeast Regional in a time of 20:39.2 to earn a bid to the NCAA Championship as an individual qualifier. Schudrowitz, an All-Region selection, helped Brown to third place at the Northeast Regional and previously earned Second Team All-Ivy honors after placing 12th at the Ivy Championship.
Schudrowitz and the Brown track & field teams will be back in action on Dec. 5 for the Alden Invitational.
