
Women's Hockey Defeated at RIT, 5-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Brown women's hockey team was defeated by RIT, 5-1, in a non-conference game at the Gene Polisseni Center on Friday night. Brown now stands at 1-7-0 overall while RIT moves to 4-11-0.
RIT recorded its first goal of the game at 7:19 of the opening period when Logan Land registered the tally. RIT carried that advantage into intermission.
The Tigers tacked on two more goals in the second, by way of a Land's power play goal (7:31), her second score of the game, and a goal from Carly Payerl (18:43), to close the period with a 3-0 lead.
RIT's lead grew to four 1:09 into the third when Reagan Rust scored a power play goal.
The Bears got on the board at the 6:18 mark when freshman Leah Olson (East Harwich, Mass.) scored her first collegiate goal while Brown was on the power play. Senior Kelly Micholson (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) and sophomore Samantha Swanstrom (Ham Lake, Minn.) recorded the assists.
RIT retaliated soon after as Payerl scored her second goal of the game (8:04) to bring the Tigers' lead to 5-1 to close out the contest.
Junior Monica Elvin (Oakland, Calif.) made 31 saves for the Bears while Brooke Stoddart recorded 12 saves.
Brown went 1-for-4 on the power play while RIT was 2-for-5.
The Bears wrap up their series at RIT tomorrow (Saturday) in a 3:00 p.m. game.
