
Women's Hockey Comes Back to Beat RIT, 2-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – After trailing 1-0 at the end of the first period, the Brown women's hockey team scored power-play goals in both the second and third period to claim a 2-1 win over RIT at the Gene Polisseni Center on Saturday. Brown now stands at 2-7-0 on the season while RIT moves to 4-12-0 overall.
RIT scored the game's first goal and grabbed a 1-0 lead early in the first period when Cassie Clayton scored a power-play goal at 4:54. The team carried that lead into the first intermission.
Brown tied the score 1-1 when junior Maddie Woo (Plymouth, Minn.) scored a power-play goal at 15:50 of the second with freshman Leah Olson (East Harwich, Mass.) gathering the assist.
Olson then scored her second goal in as many days at 16:58 of the third, while the Bears were on the power play, to give Brown the 2-1 victory. Freshman Bridget Carey (Weymouth, Mass.) and Woo teamed up for the assists.
Brown was 2-for-6 on the power play while RIT was 1-for-4. The Bears held the edge in shots for the game, 26-23.
Sophomore Julianne Landry (Hanover, Mass.) made 22 saves for the Bears, including 13 in the third period to preserve the win. Brooke Stoddart stopped 24 shots for the Tigers.
The Bears will next compete in the 21st Annual Mayor's Cup against cross-town rival Providence on Saturday, Nov. 28 for a 1:00 p.m. game at Schneider Arena.
