Providence, R.I. - Brown and Rhode Island are celebrating the 100th game between the two Ocean State universities with the Governor's Cup at stake on Saturday, October 3, under the lights at Brown Stadium, starting at 6:00 pm. Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo will make the presentation of the Governor's Cup to the winning team at the completion of the game. Tickets are available in advance at the ticket office, online at brownbears.com and at the game.
The Bears: Brown (0-2, 0-1 Ivy) ran into a Crimson juggernaut Saturday evening, falling to Harvard by a 53-27 margin in Boston, Mass. Junior quarterback Kyle Moreno (Pleasanton, CA), who threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more, paced the Bears.
The Rams: Rhode Island (0-4, 0-2 CAA) traveled to Orono, Maine and dropped a 27-17 decision to the Black Bears. Rams' junior quarterback Paul Mroz threw for 234 yards, completing 17-of-39 passes.
The Governor's Cup History – 100th Meeting: Brown and Rhode Island have met 99 times, dating back to 1909, with the Bears holding a 71-26-2 series advantage over the Rams. Last year, Brown earned its fourth straight win over the Rams, 20-13, in Kingston, RI to retain the Governor's Cup.
