PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's swimming and diving team fought valiantly on Saturday against Cornell before ultimately falling to the Big Red, 188-112, at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.
Prior to the meet, the Bears honored their five seniors – Brian Barr (Martinsville, N.J.), Alex Pascal (Longmeadow, Mass.), William Rosenberg (Strongsville, Ohio), Jeffrey Strausser (Lafayette, Calif.), and Adam Voss (Muncie, Ind.).
Despite the setback, Head Coach Chris Ip is encouraged by the team's weekly improvements.
"Each meet our men are improving and collectively the team can see progress across the board. We have one more dual meet against Yale to fine tune our events before tapering for Ivy's," said Ip.
In the 1,000 Freestyle, the Bears boasted strong performances from Cory Mayfield and freshman Grant Casey, as the duo placed first and second respectively.
Brown claimed another title on Saturday, this time in the 1-meter diving event where sophomore Jonathon Schlafer blew past the competition with 311.78 points. Schlafer, alongside of Sazzy Gourley and Rosenberg grabbed all top-three finishes in the 3-meter diving event.
In his final home meet, Strausser came up large in the 100 Butterfly with a mark of 49.62, giving the senior the crown in the event.
The Bears return to action next Saturday at Yale for its final dual meet of the season beginning at 4 p.m.
