ANDOVER, N.H. - The Brown women's ski team turned in outstanding McConnell Division performances, placing first at the Babson Carnival on Friday, and then winning the Brown Carnival on Saturday. Brown swept both downhill events scoring 432.34 in Mount Sunapee's giant slalom competition and posting a score of 432.35 at Blackwater Mountain Saturday morning.
The Bears run their MacConnell Division winning streak to 34 races with the pair of victories this weekend after sophomore Natalie Pearl (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) swept the weekend events for the second consecutive week.
Pearl and teammates Ali Gunesch, Lauren Stobierski, and Amanda Engelhardt claimed the top-four slots in the giant slalom event at Mount Sunapee on Friday as Brown continued its MacConnell Division domination.
In Saturday's slalom event at Blackwater Mountain, Pearl nabbed her fourth consecutive win to start the 2015 season. Joining Pearl on the podium was once again Engelhardt and Gunesch, who finished second and third respectively. Sophomore Sylvie Bertrand also put forth a strong performance on Saturday, finishing fifth overall with a mark of 1:42.63.
Brown returns to action next weekend for the two-day Clarkson Carnival at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, N.Y.
