LAST TIME OUT
Tory Bensen's four goals and Nina Corcoran's two goals and three assists helped pace No. 10 Penn to a 12-6 win over the Brown women's lacrosse team on Saturday at Franklin Field. With the loss, the Bears were eliminated from Ivy League Tournament competition as they drop to 9-5 overall and 2-4 in league play.
Bre Hudgins (Syracuse, N.Y.) netted two goals to run her team-high total to 38 on the season, while Grace Healy (Bellport, N.Y.) registered two goals, her 22nd and 23rd markers of the season. Kellie Roddy (Poway, Calif.) made nine saves while surrendering nine goals and Victoria Holland (Huntington, N.Y.) appeared in her fourth contest this season, allowing three goals in 22:00 of action. Lucy Ferguson recorded the win for Penn, allowing just four goals in 45:52 of play.
THE SERIES HISTORY – YALE
The Bulldogs have controlled the all-time series between the two schools, claiming a 32-7 edge after last season's 10-8 victory at Stevenson Field on April 27. The Bears last victory over Yale came on April 27, 2011, an 11-4 triumph on the strength of Kaela McGilloway's hat trick.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
After opening the 2014 campaign at 5-0, Yale has dropped six of its last nine contests, including an 8-7 decision at Cornell last Saturday. Senior Jen DeVito, the Ivy League leader with 32 assists, paces a Yale attack that averages 10.36 goals per game. Nicole Daniggelis and Brown's Grace Healy could be the key matchup of the night, as Daniggelis ranks fourth in the nation and first in the Ivy League with 6.57 draw controls per game while Healy checks in at 16th in the nation with 4.79 draw controls per game. In goal, Erin McMullan's 840 minutes in net this season tops the Ivy League while ranking fourth in goals-against average (8.21) and fifth in save percentage (.458).
10 WIN PLATEAU
With a victory on Friday, Brown can record 10 wins for just the fifth time in team history and the first time since 1997.
HUDGINS RANKED SECOND ALL-TIME IN GOALS
With 134 career goals, Bre Hudgins stands second all-time at Brown and seven strikes short of Suzanne Bailey's career 141 goals.
TEAM RECORDS IN SIGHT
After tallying 171 goals this season, the Bears are just four goals shy of shattering the program's single-season high of 174 goals recorded in 2011. This season's squad is also currently tied with the 2011 team for the most points in a season (240).
BROWN NABS FIFTH STRAIGHT OCEAN STATE CUP
The Bears improved to 6-0 all-time and 5-0 in Ocean State Cup games against Bryant with a 15-7 victory on April 4.
BUNTING RETURNS
After missing eight games, junior Abby Bunting has recorded three goals and three assists since her return on April 9 versus Michigan.
ROOS NOT GIVING AN INCH
Senior Erin Roos enters play this weekend ranked 16th in the nation in caused turnovers per game (1.86), including a career high four caused turnovers against Cornell on April 12.
IVY LEADERS
As a team, Brown tops the Ivy League in draw controls (192) and shooting percentage (.507).
ROWDY RODDY
Junior netminder Kellie Roddy has backstopped the Bears defense in goal this season, ranking first in the Ivy League with nine wins and second in the league in save percentage (.476).
MASTRO CONTINUES CAREER SEASON
Danielle Mastro has continued her milestone season, as she tallied eight goals and four assists over her last three games to extend her Ivy best point total to 55. The senior also tops the league in points per game, totaling a 3.93 average over 14 games this season.
