PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's swimming and diving team finished day one of the Brown Invitational in second place with 254 points behind Princeton, who racked up 332 points on Friday.
Columbia (218), Dartmouth (193), and Rider (153) rounded up the five-team event on Friday.
A solid performance in the morning's preliminaries saw the Bears net 17 swimmers into the evening finals session. Cory Mayfield's (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.) second place finish in the 500 Freestyle (4:30.87) gave Brown momentum that they hope to carry into day two action tomorrow.
Another notable performance came from the quartet of Alex Pascal (Longmeadow, Mass.), Connor Lohman (Prospect, Ky.), Jeffrey Strausser (Lafayette, Calif.), and Daniel Klotz (Berlin, Conn.), who boasted a third place finish in the day's final event, the 400 Medley Relay.
The Bears look to keep things rolling as they return to action tomorrow morning for preliminaries in the 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Breast, and 100 Back events beginning at 11 a.m.
