
Men's Hockey Falls at Holy Cross, 5-0

WORCESTER, Mass. – Ryan Ferrill and T.J. Moore combined for five goals to lead Holy Cross past the Brown men's hockey team, 5-0, in non-conference action Sunday afternoon at the Hart Center.
Brown drops to 2-7 overall, while Holy Cross improves to 5-5-4 on the season.
Matt Ginn made 25 saves in net for the Crusaders to pick up the shutout win, while sophomore Tim Ernst (Pickering, Ontario) registered a career-high 33 saves for the Bears. Juniors Nick Lappin (Geneva, Ill.) and Brandon Pfeil (West Vancouver, British Columbia) paced the Bears with three shots apiece.
Holy Cross jumped out to a quick start when Ryan Ferrill scored his first goal at 2:55 in the opening period. Ernst managed to deny the initial attempt with a sweeping pad save, but the puck bounced right back to the stick of Ferrill, who capitalized on the rebound and buried the second shot to give the home side the early lead, 1-0.
Ferrill scored again near the end of the period at 16:06, when he tipped in the redirect off the long shot from teammate Jake Bolten, giving the Crusaders the two-goal lead after the opening 20 minutes. Holy Cross held the edge in shots during the first period, 10-6.
Holy Cross carried over its momentum into the second period, as Ferrill notched his third tally of the contest at 2:32, when he converted a rebound to beat Ernst glove side and push the Crusaders up 3-0. The two teams were even in shots during the second period with 12 apiece.
T.J. Moore added two more goals for the Crusaders early in the third period. After the first Brown penalty of the game, Moore scored 15 seconds into the power play to make it a four-goal lead. Moore added another tally less than two minutes later at 3:43 to pad the lead at 5-0 and seal the win.
Holy Cross outshot Brown, 38-25.
