Second Half Rally Not Enough As Women's Basketball Falls To Boston College In Overtime, 90-80

BANGOR, Maine – A second half rally, capped by Jordin Alexander's game-tying jumper at the buzzer, wasn't enough as Boston College used an 11-0 run to open overtime to defeat the Brown women's basketball team, 90-80 on Friday at the Black Bear November Tournament.
Brown (1-4) will now face the host Black Bears on Saturday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center, while the Eagles (4-1) will be idle on Saturday before taking on Maine on Sunday.
Alexander (Fishers, Ind.) finished the game with 23 points on 9-of-21 shooting from the field, while teammate Sophie Bikofsky (Newton, Mass.) added 20 points and nine rebounds for the Bears.
Junior guard Ellise Sharpe (Tipp City, Ohio) posted a career high 15 points and hauled in four rebounds in 25 minutes of action. Freshman forward Janie White (Clarksville, Tenn.) chipped in with 13 points, all in the second half, to fuel Brown's furious comeback.
Nicole Boudreau's 11 first half points helped stake the Eagles to a 47-33 lead after 20 minutes. The senior guard finished the game with 18 points before fouling out late in the contest.
Facing a 19-point deficit early in the second half, the Bears went to work and drew within four points after a 13-0 run over a span of 2:16 thanks to treys from Bikofsky and White. Brown grabbed its first lead of the afternoon on White's jumper with 8:42 to play as the game turned into a see-saw affair leading up to the final minutes of regulation.
Trailing 69-67, White drew contact from Alexa Coulombe and sank two crucial free throws to knot the game at 69. Boudreau's layup with six seconds to play would appear to give the Eagles the last second victory, but Alexander's coast-to-coast drive and jumper beat the buzzer to send the game into overtime.
Boston College rushed out in overtime with the period's first 11 points that put the Bears into a hole they could not rebound from. Crucial treys from Kelly Hughes and Emilee Daley extended the Eagles' cushion in the extra frame.
The Bears outrebounded an opponent for the first time this season, hauling in 44 boards to BC's 38.
After its contest against Maine on Saturday, Brown returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 3 for an Ocean State battle against Rhode Island at the Ryan Center beginning at 7 p.m.
