PHILADELPHIA – Senior tri-captain Meghan O'Donnell became Brown's all-time leading scorer on Sunday, but the Brown field hockey team (9-7) couldn't rally in the second half of a 3-1 loss at Saint Joseph's (9-9).

O'Donnell, the Winchester, Massachusetts native, became Brown's all-time leading scorer with 88 points after her assist on Lucy Green's goal early in the second half. On Oct. 22, she eclipsed Tara Mounsey's previous goal-scoring record of 36 goals in the Bears' 1-0 win at Holy Cross.

The Bears faced an early hole for the second straight afternoon as the Hawks' Tori Popinko re-directed a shot past Shannon McSweeney (Boxborough, Mass.) to put Saint Joseph's up 1-0 just 1:28 into the game. Melissa Herd added to the host's lead off a penalty corner just under the 20-minute mark.

Alexis Miller (Caldwell, N.J.) looked poised to cut the deficit in half right before the first stanza concluded, however the junior's drive struck the post and stayed out to keep the Hawks lead at 2-0.

Just 1:12 into the second half, the Bears struck as Lucy Green (Providence, R.I.) netted her second goal in as many days on assists from Emily Arciero (Avon, Conn.) and O'Donnell to make it a 2-1 contest.

With the Bears pressing for the equalizer, Hawks goalkeeper Amelia Deibler held strong, making six saves in the second half. Jordan Martin added the all-important insurance goal for the host Hawks to give them a two-goal cushion they would not relinquish.

Arciero, Hannah Rogers (Los Altos, Calif.), and freshman Emma Quigley (Hopewell, N.J.) led the team with two shots on goal apiece.

McSweeney turned away seven shots as the Bears outshot Saint Joseph's, 20-19 overall.

Brown returns home next Saturday for the season finale against Yale on Goldberger Family Field beginning at 1 p.m.
