PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Alexis Miller tied the game with just under 13 minutes to play, but a Yale penalty stroke midway through overtime gave the Bulldogs a 3-2 victory over the Brown field hockey team at Goldberger Family Field on Saturday.

The Bears conclude the 2014 campaign with a 9-8 overall record and 1-6 mark in Ivy play, while the Bulldogs improve to 3-14, 1-6 in league play.

Prior the game, the Bears honored Haley Alvarez (Martinsville, N.J.), Clayton Christus (Bernardsville, N.J.), Liza Green (Providence, R.I.), Shannon McSweeney (Boxborough, Mass.), and Meghan O'Donnell (Winchester, Mass.) for their contributions over four seasons.

Despite the loss, McSweeney shined in goal for the Bears as the senior in her final game made 14 stops, including several sterling saves to keep Brown in the game. McSweeney finishes her career as the program's all-time leader with 628 career saves.

Brown controlled the pace early on, connecting for a 1-0 lead just 7:46 into the game as Hannah Rogers (Los Altos, Calif.) hammered home a loose ball off a scrum for her fourth tally of the season.

The visitors flipped momentum after that, registering 12 penalty corners and 13 shots in the opening half as the game remained deadlocked into halftime.

Carol Middough put the Bulldogs up 2-1 in the 39^th minute off another penalty corner, leaving the Bears vying for the equalizer as the clock ticked down. Alexis Miller (Caldwell, N.J.) gave the Bears' faithful what they were looking for with a tying strike off a penalty corner with over 12 minutes to play.

The visitors carried momentum into overtime and eventually cashed in with the winner on Kelsey Nolan's penalty stroke 8:47 into the extra frame.

Each team was booked for a green and yellow card apiece, while the Bulldogs held a 29-15 advantage in shots.
