BOSTON – Rookie Natalie Schudrowitz (Milwaukee, Wis.) raced to a third-place overall finish as the Brown women's cross country team placed ninth at the New England Championships on Saturday at Franklin Park.
Brown totaled 303 points to place ninth overall out of 38 teams, while New Hampshire claimed first with 61 points. Brown fielded an all-freshman squad at the event after the Bears competed at the Paul Short Run last weekend.
"Natalie ran very well--she showed a lot of savvy for a freshman with her execution," said Tim Springfield, Director of Track & Field/Cross Country. "I also thought that Sophie Mateau ran a great race in the sub-varsity section."
Schudrowitz place third out of 262 runners as she completed the 5-kilometer course in a time of 17:41.33. Fellow freshmen Megan Ratcliffe and Quinn Bornstein (Peacham, Vt.) placed 39th and 51st, respectively, in times of 18:25.56 and 18:31.84.
Rookie Sarah Yoho (Pasadena, Calif.) completed the course at 18:49.79, while Jeanine Noordam crossed at 19:14.39 to round out the Brown scorers.
The Bears return to action on Friday, Oct. 17 when they host the Rothenberg Run at Goddard State Park in Warwick, R.I.
