Bears Defeat George Washington, Fall To Cornell and Columbia

Providence, R.I. - The Brown women's squash team returned from semester break and posted a 6-3 win over George Washington after falling to Cornell, 8-1, and Columbia, 6-3, this weekend at the Pizzitola Sport Center's Kate Brodsky Squash Pavilion. Coach Stuart leGassick's team is now 4-2 overall.
Brown captured matches four through nine in the victory over George Washington, with sophomore Emily Richmond, junior Katherine Elliott-Moskwa, junior Mina Shakarshy, sophomore Skylar Murphy, freshman Isabel Scherl and sophomore Isabel Pitaro all earning victories.
Against Cornell, junior Alexandra White was Brown's lone winner, taking a 3-0 decision at number nine. In the Columbia match, Murphy captured a 3-0 win at number seven, Scherl earned a 3-1 win at number eight, and Pitara took a 3-1 win at number nine.
The Bears are back in action again this weekend on the road against Bates on January 17 and Bowdoin on January 18.
