In the evening game, the Bears hosted the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners, a team that they faced last week on their spring break trip to the West Coast. The teams played a thrilling one-goal game the last time that they met, and Saturday's contest featured the same intense level of competition, with the visitors earning the 12-11 victory in the last quarter. Brown jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first stanza, with junior Kate Woods (La Jolla, CA), Booher and Pepper each finding the back of the net. In the second and third quarters the teams exchanged goals, but the Bears saw their lead dissolve in the fourth, and the Roadrunners captured the game with a goal at the buzzer. Brown was lead by Pepper's five goals and Woods' three tallies.
The Bears will conclude the Bruno Water Polo Invitational with a 2:00pm game against the University of Michigan Wolverines on the team's Senior Day.
