
Glenn Honored As College Swimming's Breakout Performer

Annapolis, Md. – The 2011-12 College Swimming & Diving Honors have been announced by a panel of college coaches, athletes and sports administrators. In all, fifteen athletes, teams and coaches were recognized for their outstanding performances during the 2011-12 collegiate swimming & diving season. After qualifying for the NCAA Championship and earning All-American distincition, Brown sophomore swimmer Tommy Glenn (Haddonfield, N.J.) was named the male Breakout Swimmer of the Year.
Glenn became the first Bear swimmer to score at an NCAA Championships since 1958, competing in both the 100 and 200 butterfly. Glenn advanced to the B Finals in the 200 fly and finished 13th overall with a time of 144.60 to earn Honorable Mention All-America honors.
The open nomination process for the 2011-12 season concluded on April 30th, 2011. Coaches, athletes and sport administrators submitted their nominees for a sample of categories including Career Improvement, Break-Out Athlete, Break-Out Team and Most Exciting Dual Meet. In all, over 200 athletes and/or teams from nearly 100 institutions were nominated for their achievements.
