Bears Place 10th Nationally At Kurtz Cup

New Haven, Connecticut - The Brown women's squash team
reached the finals of the Kurtz Cup at the Howe Cup National
Championship and fell to Dartmouth, 7-2, in the championship match
to finish 10th in the nation. The Bears had beaten Hamilton, 8-1,
and Bates, 8-1, to reach the Kurtz Cup championship.
In the championship match against the Big Green, Brown had wins by
freshman Lydia Smith at #9, who came from 1-2 down to win in five,
and senior co-captain Sarah Roberts, who won in four hard fought
games at #8. Both Roberts and Smith also earned wins over Hamilton
and Bates.
There were many well contested matches throughout the line up but
the Big Green were a little too strong for the Bears
Brown will take some players to the WISA Individual Championship
next weekend, March 5-7, which are being held at Trinity
College.
