Mullery's 20 Points Leads Brown Over Dartmouth, 76-57

Hanover, New Hampshire - Senior Matt Mullery scored 20 points and freshman Tucker Halpern added 16 points, to lead Brown to a 76-57 Ivy League victory over Dartmouth at Leede Arena Saturday evening.

The win, Brown's fourth in its last six games, gives the Bears an 11-18 overall record, 5-7 in Ivy play, while Dartmouth falls to 5-21, 1-11 in the Ivy League.

Mullery's 20 points came on 7 of 14 shooting from the field and 6 of 6 shooting from the free throw line. One of Brown's top all-time scorers, Mullery moved past Mark McAndrew's 1,100 career points into 17th place on Brown's career scoring list. Mullery has scored 1,105 career points for the Bears.

Halpern hit 6 of 13 field goals for Brown in scoring 16 points. Junior Adrian Williams scored all of his points behind the three-point arc, connecting on 5 of 7 treys.

Senior Steve Gruber only scored five points for the Bears, but he handed out a career high 10 assists.

Holding a narrow 42-40 lead early in the second half, Brown outscored the Big Green 16-4, to take control of the game, 58-44. Freshman Tucker Halpern's trey with 9:16 remaining in the game gave the Bears the 14-point lead. Junior Adrian Williams later connected on his fifth trey of the game to give Brown a 15-point lead, 61-46, with eight minutes left to play.

Junior Peter Sullivan, who on Friday night became Brown's 24th 1,000-point scorer, netted five points and grabbed a game high 11 rebounds. Sullivan now has 1,008 career points for the Bears.

Brown mounted an early three-point barrage and jumped out to a 28-15 lead with 6:45 left in the half on a trey by Williams, who converted his fourth straight shot from behind the three-point arc.

Dartmouth slowly chipped away at the Bears' lead and pulled to within three points at halftime, 37-34, on a jump shot by Warwick's David Ruffel, as the Big Green kept Brown scoreless for the last two minutes of the half.

Brown connected on 10 of 24 treys for the game and converted 12 of 13 free throws. The Bears out-rebounded the Big Green by a 24-12 margin in the second half, and held a 36-32 rebounding margin for the evening.

Dartmouth was led by senior Robbie Dixon, who scored 16 points, grabbed seven rebounds and handed out five assists.

The Bears return home for its final games of the season, hosting first place Cornell on Friday, March 5, and Columbia on Saturday, March 6 at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Both games tip-off at 7:00 pm.
