
Harvard Takes Down Brown, 91-71

Boston, Mass. - Freshman Brandyn Curry scored 13 of his game
high 21 points in the first half as Harvard built a 54-33 halftime
lead and cruised to a 91-71 win over Brown at Lavietes Pavilion
Friday evening. The loss snaps a modest two-game Brown winning
streak and drops the Bears to 10-18 overall, 4-7 in the Ivy League.
Harvard extended its record to 19-6, 8-3 in Ivy play, tying the
school record for wins in a season.
Curry's 21 points came on 8 of 10 shooting from the field,
including 3 of 4 shooting from behind the three-point arc. McNally
added 14 points for the Crimson on strong 5 of 7 shooting from the
field, including 4 of 6 three-point field goals, while Christian
Webster added 11 points.
Brown junior guard Garrett Leffelman registered a new career
scoring high for the third time in four games with 19 points on
sizzling 7 of 8 shooting from the field and 4 of 4 shooting from
the free throw line.
Junior Peter Sullivan registered 18 points for the Bears, hitting
5 of 7 field goals and 7 of 7 free throws. With 18 points against
the Crimson, Sullivan became the 24th player in Brown history to
score 1,000 or more points, now with 1,003 career points.
Freshman Andrew McCarthy also scored in double figures for Brown
with 12 points. Senior Matt Mullery chipped in with nine points and
six assists for the Bears.
Brown held a five point first half lead, 23-18, following a lay-up
by Leffelman with 9:04 left in the half. Harvard took over the game
by outscoring the Bears 36-10 for the remainder of the half to grab
a 54-33 lead at intermission.
The Crimson scored 15 of their first half points off 10 Brown
turnovers. Curry scored 13 first half points, and McNally added 11
points on perfect 4 of 4 shooting from the field. Harvard hit 7 of
10 first half treys.
The difference in the game came behind the three-point arc with
Harvard connecting on 12 of 19 treys (63-percent), while the Bears
hit 6 of 16 treys (37-percent).
The Bears travel north to Hanover, New Hampshire Saturday evening
to face Dartmouth in Brown's final road game of the season.
