
Bears Hit 33 Free Throws In 75-60 Win Over Dartmouth

Providence, Rhode Island - Junior Peter Sullivan scored 23
points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while senior Matt Mullery tossed in
14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, to lead Brown to a 75-60 Ivy
League victory over Dartmouth at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
The win lifts the Bears to 8-16 overall, 2-5 in the Ivy League,
while Dartmouth drops to 4-17, 0-7 in league play.
Sullivan scored most of his points at the free throw line with
torrid 14 of 16 shooting from the charity stripe, and 4 of 5
shooting from the field. Mullery had a similar night with 9 of 10
shooting from the line and 4 of 8 shooting from the field.
Brown had an incredible night from the free throw line, connecting
on 33 of 37 attempts (89-percent) from the line.
The Bears led by 10 points at the half, but had trouble putting the
pesky Big Green away. Dartmouth pulled to within three points of
the Bears, 49-46, with 9:54 left to play on two free throws by R.J.
Griffin.
With 6:15 left and Dartmouth trailing, 55-51, Brown put the game
away with a 15-5 spurt over the next five minutes to take control
once again, 70-56, and cruise to the victory,
Junior Garrett Leffelman scored Brown's first 14 points as
the Bears built an 14-8 lead over the Big Green at the five minute
mark. Leffelman hit 4 of 4 treys and two free throws to open the
game.
Brown opened a 13-point first half lead, 35-22, on a three-point
basket by junior Peter Sullivan with 4:02 on the clock.
Brown's remarkable 13 of 13 shooting from the free throw line
in the first half was responsible for the Bears building a 39-29
lead at intermission.
Leffelman finished the game with 14 points for Brown, while
freshman Tucker Halpern chipped in with 10 points, four rebounds
and three assists.
Dartmouth was led by center Matt LaBove, who scored 12 points,
while Clive Weeden added 9 points and 9 rebounds.
The Bears are back in action again tomorrow night, hosting Harvard
at the Pizzitola Sports Center, starting at 7:00 p.m.
