Brown Earns Wins Over Bowdoin and Bates
2/1/2010 12:00:00 AM | Women's Squash
The Women's Squash team traveled up to Brunswick and
Lewiston in Maine on Sunday to take on the Bowdoin and Bates
squads, and left with two wins, 9-0 at Bowdoin and 7-2 against
Bates.
The Bowdoin match saw the Bears play solidly throughout, and the
highlight match was Laura Pyne's win at #1.
After a short turnaround the Brown team boarded the bus and met a
strong Bates squad who were very strong at the top of the ladder.
The Bears lost at #1 and #2 but Sarah Crosky at #2 was involved in
one of the two best matches of the day. Sarah fell 0-2 down playing
tentative squash with insufficient length and width to give her a
chance. Sarah's shots became more accurate and hit with more
pace for the remaining three games and Sarah fell 12-10 in the
fifth in an exciting squash match.
The other match of note was Kali Schellenberg's 3-2 win at
#4. Kali started slowly but her shot making ability shone through
in the fourth and fifth games before running out a comfortable
winner in the fifth game.
Next up for the Bears are Yale and George Washington at the
Pizzitola Sports Center on Saturday, February 6.
