Bears Competing At Big 5 Invitational

Plymouth Meeting, Pa. - The Brown men's golf team stands in 17th place at the Big 5 Invitational after the first day of play with a solid team score of 310 at the 6,570 yard par-72 Plymouth Country Club. Furman leads the tournament by six shots after shooting an opening round 283.
The Big 5 Invitational field includes 21 teams from nine conferences and features all six Division I universities in Philadelphia (Temple, Penn, Villanova, Saint Joseph's, La Salle, and Drexel).
Sophomore Ryan Hoskins (Scottsdale, AZ) made his Brown debut by carding a two-over par 74 (37-37) to lead the Brown team to stand 33rd individually in the 108 player field. Sophomore JD Ardell (Scottsdale, AZ) also had a solid day for the Bears, shooting 77.
Senior captain Michael Amato (Cornwall, NY)came in at 79, while freshman Peter Callas (Moline, IL) finished with 80. Sophomore Jack Mylott (Sarasota, FL) also scored for the Bears, shooting 86 for the Bears.
The final round of the Big 5 Invitational will be held on Sunday, October 11.
