
Brown Falls To Princeton, 63-46

Providence, Rhode Island - Sophomore Doug Davis scored 14 of his
game high 16 points in the first half as Princeton built a 40-18
halftime lead and cruised to a 63-46 win over Brown at the
Pizzitola Sports Center. The win lifts the Tigers to 10-5 overall,
1-0 in the Ivy League, while Brown drops to 7-13, 1-2 in Ivy
play.
Brown senior Matt Mullery was one of the few bright spots for the
Bears, scoring 10 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Freshman
Andrew McCarthy also had a solid game for the Bears with nine
points on 3 of 6 shooting from the field, while pulling down nine
rebounds.
Princeton took control of the game early, grabbing a 29-10 lead
with 7:50 left in the first half on a three-point barrage, as the
Tigers connected on 6 of their first 13 treys, including four of
their last four three-point attempts. Davis did most of the damage
with 14 of the Tigers' first 29 points on 4 of 6 shooting
from behind the three point arc.
Princeton's held a 40-18 lead at the half with the Bears able
to convert just 4 of 18 shots from the field.
The Tigers led by as many as 26 points in the second half, 60-32,
following a lay-up by Brendan Connolly with 7:11 remaining in the
game.
Brown shot poorly throughout, connecting on a season low 12 of 40
field goals for the game (30-percent), while the Tigers connected
on 25 of 57 field goals.
Brown junior guard Peter Sullivan netted seven points, while junior
Garrett Leffelman added six points.
Davis finished the game with 16 points, on 6 of 11 shooting from
the field, and four assists. Freshman Ian Hummer also scored in
double figures for the Tigers with 10 points.
The Bears will be back in action again Saturday night, hosting Penn
at the Pizzitola Sports Center at 7:00 p.m.
