PROVIDENCE, RI - Jill DePetris has been named an assistant coach
for the women's lacrosse team, in an announcement made by head
coach Keely McDonald.
"Jill is a powerful addition to Brown Lacrosse and I am thrilled
to welcome her to Brown University and our program," said McDonald.
"She has had impressive playing and professional experiences that
will allow her to impact our student athletes on her very first day
with the team. Jill displays her passion for the game and life in
everything that she does. Her energy is infectious. I have no
doubt that she will help Brown lacrosse and the current players
uphold our high standards of excellence and execution both on and
off the field."
DePetris joins the Brown staff after spending the past two seasons
as an assistant at St. Joseph's. While with the Hawks, DePetris was
involved in all aspects of the program, including recruitment,
scouting of opponents, practice planning, and team travel. During
the 2009 season, she helped lead St. Joe's to a 10-8 record, as the
team posted the most wins in its history, while making its
first-ever appearance in the Atlantic-10 Championship Final. The
team also ranked fourth in the NCAA in caused turnovers and 10th in
scoring defense.
In addition to her duties on the St. Joe's staff, DePetris also
coached for Phantastix Club in Radnor, PA and has worked several
summer camps, including Villanova, STX Lacrosse, and Syracuse.
A 2007 graduate of Syracuse with a B.S. in Sport Management and
Hospitality Management, DePetris was a four-year starter for the
women's lacrosse team, earning Second Team All-Big East honors as a
sophomore and a senior. As a midfielder, she was the eighth person
in school history to reach 100 points and was second in the Big
East and 18th nationally in assists as a senior. During her senior
year, she helped to lead Syracuse to win its inaugural Big East
Championship, while helping to lead the Orange to two NCAA
Tournament appearances (2005, 2007). DePetris was also a four-time
Big East Academic All-Star and was the recipient of both the
Enthusiasm Award and the Doris Soliday Award in 2007.
DePetris received an MBA from St. Joe's in 2009 and currently
resides in Providence.
