Cerretani '04 Climbs to #46 (doubles) in the World

PROVIDENCE, RI - Former Brown tennis standout Jamie Cerretani
'04 has improved his world doubles ranking to #46 in the world, one
spot away from his career-high of #45, which he accomplished last
July. Cerretani earned two wins at two grand slam tournaments,
going 1-1 at both the French Open and Wimbledon.
At the French Open, Cerretani partnered with Sergiy Stakhovsky of
Ukraine and the duo posted a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win over Nicolas Almagro
and Ivan Navarro of Spain in the first round. Next up was as second
round match against Lukas Dlouhy (Czech Republic) and Leander Paes
(India), who were seeded third and earned a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win,
before advancing to the Championship match and winning the men's
doubles title with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory in the Final.
Cerretani then made his second appearance at Wimbledon, partnering
with Victor Hanescu of Romania for the second straight year. The
duo defeated Oscar Hernandez and Albert Montanes, both of Spain, in
the First Round, 7-6 (5), 6-4, 6-3. The win marked the second
straight year that Cerrtani and Hanescu claimed a first round
doubles victory at Wimbledon.
However, for the second year in a row, the duo fell in the second
round, dropping a 3-6, 3-6, 7-6 (12), 5-7 decision to Martin Damm
(Czech Republic) and Robert Lindstedt (Sweeden).
Cerretani also played two mixed doubles matches at Wimbledon,
partnering with Sybille Bammer (Austria) to earn a 6-3, 6-4 win
over Dick Norman (Belgium) and Liga Dekmeijere (Latvia), before
falling to Mark Knowles (Bahamas) and Anna-Lena Groenegeld
(Germany), 7-6 (5), 6-3.
Immediately following Wimbledon, Cerretani returned to Rhode Island
for his second appearance in the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis
Championships. Partnering with Stakhovsky, the duo fell to Nicolas
Mahut (France) and Fabrice Santoro (France), 6-4, 6-4.
