- Volunteer Assistant Coach
Neal White has joined the Brown staff as a volunteer coach with the sprint and hurdle group beginning September 2015.
White came to Brown after three years at Bryant University in nearby Smithfield RI. At Bryant he coached the sprints and hurdles as well as all throwers and pole vaulters. White entered Bryant as it finished its transition to compete at the NCAA D1 level and helped athletes to set school records in 15 different events.
Prior to Bryant, White was the Head XC and Track coach at Westwood High School in Westwood MA for seven years. During that time he coached multiple school record holders including a two time Mass All-State champion in the 1000m
White is a 1992 graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Boston. He spent most of his career working in the academic research environment including working with groups at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is USATF Level II certified in Sprints, Hurdles and Relays and has both the Jumping Event Specialist Certification and Throwing Event Specialist Certification from the USTFCCCA.
