Joe LeBlanc, a former University of Wyoming standout andfour-time All-American, was been named an assistant coach for theBrown wrestling team in November 2013. Following one season as anassistant at Indiana University, LeBlanc serves as Head Coach ToddBeckerman's top assistant and aids in all aspects of theprogram.
"I am extremely excited to have Joe join our coaching staff,"Beckerman said. "From his storied athletic career to his coachingexperience, he brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to our team.We now have coaching expertise in the room at every weight class,which is a huge asset for our student-athletes as we start theseason and our journey to the National Tournament."
LeBlanc stands as the winningest wrestler in Wyoming history with147 wins, including 18 victories in the NCAA Championships thatlanded him in the nation's top-six four years in a row. As asenior, LeBlanc posted a 34-3 record and earned the top seed in the184 lbs class for the 2012 NCAA Championships after surrenderingjust one regular season bout.
"I am very excited to have this great opportunity tocoach at such a prestigious institution," LeBlanc said. "Brownhas everything necessary to produce a nationally prominentwrestling team in years to come and this is an opportunity to buildupon its successful tradition. I am really lookingforward to working with Coach Beckerman and his staff. Weshare the same vision to regularly produce NationalChampions and All-Americans and I am confident that we can makethis happen at Brown."
At Indiana, LeBlanc helped five Hoosiers qualify for the NCAAChampionships and served as the sparring partner for Adam Chalfant,who earned the No. 12 seed in the national tournament in 2013.
LeBlanc and his wife, Amanda, have two sons, Tyson and Colby, andare expecting their third child. A three-time National WrestlingCoaches Association Academic All-American, LeBlanc graduated fromWyoming with a degree in kinesiology and health promotion in2012.
