Jon Gingrich, a part of five NCAA Championship team titles at Penn State University, enters his first season with the Brown University wrestling program as a volunteer assistant coach in 2016-17.
Gingrich helped the Nittany Lions win both the NCAA team title and the Big Ten team title in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 as a wrestler before aiding PSU to another NCAA championship as a resident athlete with the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club in 2016. A three-year letter winner, he qualified for the NCAA Championships and placed at the Big Ten Championships at 285 lbs. in 2014.
Gingrich completed his collegiate career with an overall record of 71-23 (.755 winning percentage). As a redshirt-junior in 2013-14, he posted a 23-10 mark, placed sixth at the Big Ten Championships, qualified for the NCAA Championships, and earned a ranking as high as No. 12 by Intermat. He went 13-3 in 2014-15, 14-6 in 2012-13, and 21-4 as a redshirt-freshman in 2011-12.
A native of Wingate, Pa., and a product of Bald Eagle Area High School, Gingrich earned a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in 2015.
