Ned Foster, who came to Brown after working for Resolute Racing Shells from 2013-18, enters his eighth season as the head rigger for the Brown University crew programs in 2025-26 after joining the Bears in December of 2018.

From 2013-18, Foster served as a service coordinator for Resolute Racing Shells, in Bristol, R.I., overseeing shell repairs and estimates for over 50 collegiate, high school, club, and masters teams.

His duties at Resolute included helping design the Resolute Adaptive Seat and Shell and Resolute Double Pair, supervising made-to-order shell construction for nationally ranked programs, organizing all domestic deliveries, and executing repair plans in consultation with clients among several other responsibilities.

Prior to Resolute, Foster served as the novice boys coach for Bromfield/Acton-Boxboro Crew in Harvard, Mass., from 2011-12, as the interim head coach for the Mercer Masters’ Club in Princeton Junction, N.J., in 2010, and as an associate camp director for the Mercer Junior Rowing Club Middle School Learn to Row Camp from 2005-10.

Foster also holds technical repair experience with the Princeton National Regatta Association as a boat house technician from 2005-10 and as a freelance repair technician with the United States National Rowing Team during the summers of 2009 and 2010. Foster graduated second in his class from the International Yacht Restoration School in Newport, R.I., in 2013.

As a rower himself, Foster raced at the collegiate level with Northeastern University’s varsity four and second varsity eight from 2007-10. At the prep level, he rowed with The Gunnery School’s first four as well as Mercer Junior Rowing Club’s first varsity eight, captaining the crew.
