Andrew Biggs joined the Brown men'ssoccer coaching staff in July of 2010 and was elevated to theposition of associate head coach in August of2013. A graduate of Middlebury College, Biggs was thehead coach at the University of New England for four seasons priorto his arrival at Brown.
Biggs has been instrumental to thesuccess of the Brown men’s soccer team since joining thestaff, helping the Bears to three 12-win seasons, including the2011 Ivy League title. A perennial postseason qualifier, Brownreached the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in both 2010 and 2011 and the secondround in 2012. The Bears were just one of nine programs ranked inthe top 20 at the end of each of those three seasons, finishingwith a No. 10 national ranking in the 2010 final poll, followed byNo. 17 in 2011 and No. 16 in 2012. Additionally, Brown has rackedup wins over 12 nationally ranked top-25 teams over the last fourseasons.
Biggs has worked closely with thehighly touted Bears defense, helping a backline that registered aschool-record 11 shutouts in three consecutive seasons (2010-12).Individually, Biggs has coached 29 All-Ivy players, including threeMajor League Soccer SuperDraft picks, four professional players,two CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, one NSCAA All-American and thefirst Senior CLASS Award winner in school history (2012).
During his time at New England,Biggs coached the program's first winning season in 10 years alongwith its first 10-win season since 1997. He took over a programthat averaged less than three wins per season since the year 2000,and under his guidance the Nor'easters made two Commonwealth CoastConference Championship appearances.
In addition to coaching, Biggs wasalso the Director of Coaching and Player Development forthe Maine State Youth Soccer Association and was namedthe National Soccer Coaches Association America Youth Boys'National Coach of the Year in 1999. He has also served as a USSoccer National Staff Instructor, and has his USSF "A" license.Biggs was also a founder of Odyssey Sport 97 youth soccer club in1997 and served as the club's Technical Director.
Biggs began his collegiatecareer at the University of Pennsylvania, and went on to MiddleburyCollege where he was a New England Intercollegiate Soccer LeagueAll-Star and received his Bachelor of Arts in History. Aftercollege he played professionally in New Zealand with WesternSuburbs, and then competed for the Arizona Cotton in the UnitedStates Interregional Soccer League.
