Michael Murphy joined the Brown staff ahead of the 2023 season as a Defensive Quality Control Assistant. Murphy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Brown, having previously worked at all three NCAA levels.
Most recently before coming to College Hill, Murphy worked as the Defensive Backs Coach at Massachusetts Maritime Academy. He previously spent two seasons as the Safeties Coach/Video Coordinator at American International College where he was responsible for the passing defensive game planning, oversaw all kickoff team duties and recruited the areas of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and New York.
During the 2020 season, Murphy served as the Cornerbacks Coach at Alfred University in western New York. In 2019, he first entered the coaching world as a Defensive Quality Control Coach at Holy Cross, where he was responsible for all defensive game film breakdown to create scouting reports for each opponent, assisted with weekly game plans and oversaw the program’s defensive recruiting boards.
Murphy graduated from Nichols College in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a minor in sports management. He went on to earn an MBA from American Int’l in 2023.
