
Men’s Water Polo Returns Home to Host Bruno Invite

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's water polo team (8-2, 1-0 NWPC) will host the Bruno Invite this weekend at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center, playing four non-conference games.
Coming off a 3-1 weekend at the Fullerton Mini Tournament in California, the Bears are ranked No. 18 in the Collegiate Water Polo Association Men's Varsity poll this week. First-year Roland Csendes led Brown with 14 goals and eight assists through the weekend, now leading the team in goals and tied for assists (26 goals, 14 assists). Dominik Balla and Máté Tymcyna each had six goals over the weekend, and Tymcyna recorded seven assists, tying Csendes in season assists (14). Griffin Tunney had four goals and four assists, also tying the Bear's season assist total at 14, and Trey Rogers scored his first two goals of the season.
In goal for Brown, Santiago Soza made his collegiate debut against California Lutheran on Sunday. Dimitrios Kratimenos made 35 saves through three games, including a sudden death overtime battle, extending his season total to 94 saves.
The Bears will start the weekend on Saturday against Connecticut College (3-5) at 12 p.m. before they face Concordia University (6-6) at 4 p.m. Brown will have to keep an eye on Jesse Ellis who leads Connecticut's offense with 20 goals and six assists, as well as Artem Kyselov in net who leads with 38 saves.
Brown will return on Sunday to play Johns Hopkins (7-3) at 10 a.m. Mason Hofmann has scored 19 goals this season for the Blue Jays, while Luke Mendelsohn is close behind with 14 goals and 15 assists. The Bears will close out the weekend against Wheaton College (1-5) at 2:15 p.m. Spyros Rapsomanikis leads Wheaton with 16 goals and three assists.
