
Men's Soccer 2025 Season Preview

Brown men's soccer is set to begin their 2025 season on Friday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. when they host Holy Cross at Stevenson-Pincince Field. The Bears look to build upon their previous season where they finished with an 8-8-1 overall record, going 3-4-0 in Ivy League play. Brown secured the final spot in the Ivy League Tournament after beating Yale in their last regular season matchup.
Friends of Brown Men's Soccer Head Coaching Chair Chase Wileman will lead the Bears for his fourth season. The Bears have added 10 new players, and will return 17.

NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE
The Bears will play five non-conference home games at Stevenson-Pincince Field, starting with their home opener against Holy Cross on Aug. 29. The team's home slate features matchups against UConn (Sept. 10), UMass Lowell (Sept. 20), Providence College (Sept. 23), and Bryant (Oct. 14).
Brown will head to Fairfield (Sept. 1), and Boston University (Sept. 5) for their first two road trips of the season. They will close out non-conference action on the road in Kingston, R.I., for an in-state rivalry matchup against the Rhody Rams (Sept. 16).

IVY LEAGUE SCHEDULE
Brown kicks off Ivy League action on Sept. 27 when they host the Dartmouth Big Green. The Bears will host Penn in an Ivy League Tournament semifinal rematch on Oct. 11. This game will also serve as the team's Alumni Day. Brown's final Ivy match at home will take place on Nov. 1 when the Bears host Columbia on Senior Day.
Following a three-game home-stand, Brown will travel to Princeton to take on the defending Ivy League Tournament Champions (Oct. 4). On Oct. 18, the Bears will head to Harvard to take on the Crimson. A week later, Brown will make the trek to Ithaca, N.Y. to face the Cornell Big Red. The team rounds out their conference road games, and the regular season at Yale (Nov. 8).
This season’s Ivy League Tournament will be hosted by the No. 1 seed, from Nov. 13-15 with the top four teams in the standings making the tournament.

KEY RETURNERS
Brown returns 17 players from their previous season: Lorenzo Amaral, Timi Browne, Carlo Brown, Iyke Dafe, Stefano D'Agostini, Adolfo Diaz, Diego Elizalde, Langdon Gryglas, Greyson Mitchell, Jamin Gogo Peters, Mads Stistrup Petersen, Max Pfaffman, James Snaith, Carter Smith, Shayne Thompson, Henrik Weiper, and Zion Wharton.
Forward Lorenzo Amaral led the Bears in scoring, netting eight goals with six assists for a total of 22 points. Amaral finished out the season second in points, and fourth in the Ivy League in goals.
Midfielder and defender Mads Stistrup Petersen collected the second-most points on the team with 13 (four goals and five assists). Stistrup Petersen ranked seventh in the conference in assists.
Goalkeeper Henrik Weiper closed out the 2024 season with a 1.27 goals against average, and .725 save percentage. Weiper had the fourth-lowest goals against average in the Ivy League for the season, and ranked third in saves.
The Bears finished the season second in the conference in goals. The team netted 28 goals throughout the season, with an average of 1.647 per game.

NEWCOMERS
Brown brings in 10 newcomers to the roster: Kitan Akindele, Jonah Esposito, Mathias Hille, Roman Novy-Marx, Mateo Pereyra, Isaiah Robledo, Nicholas Sanchez, Marshall Treese, Sawyer Turiace, and Ben Voellmicke.
Kitan Akindele is from Lagos, Nigeria, and attended and played for the Harrow School. There, he was named a Football Scholar and the First XI Captain.
Jonah Esposito hails from Chelsea, London, and attended and played for the Harrow School. Esposito served as vice captain of the team, and was awarded Soccer Colors by the Harrow School. He also achieved honors in soccer, and was named BHFC Player of the Season.
Mathias Hille is from Frankfurt, Germany, and attended the Albert Einstein Schule. He previously played soccer at Northeastern. Hille also played for SV Wehen Wiesbaden and FC Eddersheim. He was named 2023 Player of the Year for FC Eddersheim, leading the team in playing time. Hille was selected to represent Hessenauswahl in 2019, and was a part of the squad for the German National Team Scouting Tournament. He advanced to the pre-season for the adult professional team of SV Wehen Wiesbaden in 2022, and scored an assist in their pre-season match against first-ranked Bundesliga. Hille was also a member of the Eintracht Frankfurt Adult Squad.
Roman Novy-Marx is from Rochester, N.Y., and attended the Harley School. He also played for RNYFC Academy MLS Next, and the 2020 GPS National Team. He was named to the 2018-19 First-Team All-League Varsity Soccer, and First-Team All-League Varsity Tennis. Novy-Marx also served as team captain for RNYFC Academy MLS Next.
Mateo Pereyra hails from Key Biscayne, Fla., and attended the Somerset Virtual Academy. He played soccer for Inter Miami Academy. Pereyra was awarded the MLS Next Best of Game U16, and was also a member of the National Junior Honor Society.
Santa Barbara, Calif. native Isaiah Robledo, attended Dos Pueblos Senior High School and played for Santa Barbara SC. He was awarded MLS Next Best of Match U16 in 2022. Robledo attended USYNT Identification Camp in 2021 and 2022, and served as a member of the National Honor Society.
Nicholas Sanchez is from Closter, N.J., and attended Northern Valley Regional-Demarest. Sanchez previously played for Marist. He also played for the New York Redbulls Academy and Players Development Academy. Sanchez was named to the All-MAAC Third Team, and Academic All-District Team.
Marshall Treese hails from Naples, Fla., and attended and played for Shattuck St. Mary's. There, he achieved high honor roll status as a junior and senior.
Auburn, Calif. native Sawyer Turiace attended Elk Grove Charter School, and played for Sacramento Republic FC. He received the Alpha Omega award as a sophomore, given to student-athletes with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and achieved honor roll status as a sophomore and junior. He made the principal's list, and earned student of the quarter as a senior. Turiace is a two-time Davis Cup winner and Copa Del Rey winner.
Ben Voellmicke is from Ridgefield, Conn., where he attended Ridgefield High School and played for AC Connecticut. Voellmicke served as team captain, and was recognized as the team's season MVP. He earned Connecticut All-State Soccer Team, Connecticut All-State Academic Team, and received First Team All-FCIAC recognition. Voellmicke was selected to participate in the CIAC Senior bowl, where he was awarded MVP. He was given the Scholar Athlete Award for a fall season male athlete, and named King Scholar for earning high honors every semester. Voellmicke was a member of the Ridgefield High School Honor Society.
